Starr County Warrant Searches
There is no public Starr County portal that searches every active warrant. Start with the court printed on the person’s own paperwork. A city traffic citation belongs to that municipal court; a county traffic case belongs to its JP precinct; a felony case routes to the assigned District Court and District Clerk. The Sheriff at 956-487-5571 is a cross-check, not a published all-courts list.
Have the legal name, date of birth, citation or cause number, and court or precinct ready. Ask whether a result is only a pending balance or also shows FTA, capias, capias pro fine, or warrant status. For a confirmed criminal warrant, speak with a Texas attorney before taking action.
- For a Rio Grande City citation, search the city’s official municipal portal by citation and DOB, license and state, SSN and DOB, plate and state, name and DOB, or business name.
- For La Grulla, use the linked TrafficPayment form only after the court confirms the amount and permitted transaction.
- Call the JP precinct named on a county citation, or the city court named on a municipal ticket. Roma and Escobares have no current public warrant form located.
- Use Room 304 for District Court files, Room 201 for the County Clerk criminal request form, and the assigned court for current process status.
- Call the Sheriff as a cross-check. Use DPS FTA/FTP only for a reported license-renewal issue, then ask the court about a confirmed warrant.
Which Starr County Court Owns the Warrant Record?
Venue follows the case, not the reader’s preferred office. Starr has the 229th and 381st District Courts, one County Court at Law, eight JP precincts, and municipal courts in Rio Grande City, Roma, Escobares, and La Grulla. A missed city setting generally stays with that city court; a JP citation stays with the precinct on the ticket.
The County Clerk says its office consolidates some court collections, but that does not make it a live warrant database. For felony or District Court files, use the District Clerk. For a county-level record request, the official form identifies the County Clerk’s separate copy and search route.
The County Clerk page links the criminal case form shown here; the JP directory is a separate precinct route.
The County Clerk page links the criminal case form; it does not show a real-time warrant result list.
Starr County Warrant Search Fields to Have Ready
Field sets depend on the city and task. Rio Grande City supports several citation searches; La Grulla’s form is designed to process a court-authorized payment, not to scan the county. Neither interface publishes a complete warrant-record schema or says how a common-name match is resolved. Use a cause or citation number when possible.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Citation number + DOB | City citation search | Portal-defined | Rio Grande City; no countywide coverage |
| Name + DOB | Person search | Portal-defined | Rio Grande City; match rules not published |
| DL/state, SSN/DOB, or plate/state | Identity or vehicle route | Portal-defined | Rio Grande City; use the official portal |
| First/last name, DL/state, ticket number | Payment form | Required fields shown | La Grulla; amount, OTP, six-digit code, and CAPTCHA also appear |
| Cause number / court | Clerk request | Useful identifiers | County Clerk form asks for name, DOB, and criminal cause |
Starr County Search Fields Differ by Warrant Route
The Rio Grande City Tyler portal is the broadest local search interface found. It offers citation and DOB, license and state with DOB, SSN and DOB, vehicle or plate and state, name and DOB, and business-name routes. No wildcard rule, export control, update cadence, or warrant-number format is displayed in the inspected page. Treat a result as city citation information until the court confirms the process status.
La Grulla’s TrafficPayment route asks for identity and ticket information, then amount, mobile or email verification, a six-digit passcode, and CAPTCHA. That sequence protects a transaction; it does not make the portal a public active-warrant roster.
Roma's page links citation payment but shows no warrant fields. Escobares lists a court phone and mailing route. Call before using outside services.
The County Clerk vendor search below is a property-record index, not a criminal-warrant lookup.
It does not search warrant records or provide live court status.
Starr County Warrant Search Results
No public Starr warrant listing was available to inspect, so the fields below describe what to ask the court to identify, not a sample portal result. A cause number, warrant number, status, and next setting can be separate entries. A payment screen may show a balance without proving that the judge recalled the process.
| Case identifier | Give the court the citation or cause number; ask if it differs from the warrant number |
|---|---|
| Process type | Ask whether the file shows an arrest warrant, bench process, capias, capias pro fine, or only an FTA/FTP report |
| Issuing court | Named city court, JP precinct, County Court at Law, or District Court |
| Bond / amount | Ask for amount and type; no countywide bond schedule was located |
| Status and setting | Confirm issued, served, recalled, quashed, or still pending, plus any next appearance date |
Starr County Clerk Form Is Not a Warrant Search
The Starr County Clerk criminal case form requests a name, date of birth, criminal cause, requested documents, page counts, and certification choice. It charges $5 per search, $1 per copy page, and $5 per certified document. Payment is due with the request. The form allows five business days; a large in-person request over 100 pages is noted for next-business-day readiness.
That process returns existing case records, not an instant answer about every court’s warrant status. Ask for the file held by the right clerk and use a narrow scope such as a cause, citation, warrant instrument, docket entry, or recall order. Do not request a new all-county list that no office says it maintains.
The Texas Attorney General’s PIA overview explains the written request route and exceptions.
A request may be delayed or withheld under an exception; the clerk form and the PIA are distinct procedures.
Starr County Warrants: Who Holds What
District files route to the District Clerk in Room 304, 401 N. Britton Avenue, at 956-716-4800 ext. 8482. The County Clerk’s Room 201 line is ext. 2009. The County Court at Law is listed in Room 305 at ext. 8497; concurrent District Court cases may be District-Clerk matters. Each of the eight JP precincts and four municipal courts has a separate lower-court route.
The Sheriff’s published number is 956-487-5571 at 102 E. 6th Street, Rio Grande City. Texas has no single public statewide warrant portal. DPS OmniBase/FTA is for reported failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay compliance that can affect license renewal, not a complete arrest-warrant search.
The Texas court directory search can help identify a court; it cannot report warrant status.
County and court filters route a reader to an office directory rather than a case result.
Eight JP Phones Route Starr County Warrant Checks
Use the precinct printed on the ticket. JP Precinct 1 is 956-317-1610; 2 is 956-849-1253; 3 is 956-487-7049; 4 is 956-716-4800 ext. 8244; 5 is 956-481-3210; 6 is 956-487-7180; 7 is 956-848-5717; and 8 is 956-849-7450. The county directory supplies the addresses and constable assignments.
Ask the clerk whether a citation is pending, in FTA status, or has a capias or capias pro fine. If the paper names a city municipal court instead, use that city. The court decides recall and payment instructions; the nearest JP office is not necessarily the right one.
Starr County Warrant Records May Stay Restricted
Public access applies to existing records that are not confidential or withheld by law. A pending investigation may limit release under the Texas Public Information Act. A sealed warrant, a newly issued process, or a record held by a different court may not appear in an online search. Juvenile arrest warrants and the underlying complaint or affidavit have a specific confidentiality rule.
Key Rules:
Texas Government Code §552.108(a)(1) may protect law-enforcement information tied to a pending investigation.
Texas Family Code §58.010 keeps juvenile arrest warrants and supporting papers confidential, subject to listed exceptions.
A missing result may mean another court holds the case, the record is restricted, or the source is incomplete. It is not a clearance confirmation.
The statute sets a confidentiality limit on juvenile warrant material.
Starr County DPS Status Does Not Confirm a Warrant
OmniBase and the DPS Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay program can explain a reported citation issue and a license-renewal block. DPS says its license staff cannot tell callers whether an outstanding warrant exists. If more than one court reported a matter, each reporting court must be contacted. A closed citation may take up to seven business days to update after the court reports compliance.
Use the DPS FTA/FTP program page or call OmniBase at 1-800-686-0570 for that compliance question. Then confirm warrant status with the issuing municipal court, JP, County Court at Law, or District Court.
